Balance Track · Version 1.0.0

Your records and how they are used

Account names and balances, transactions, dates, categories, notes, debts, repayments, forgiveness, planned expenses, ledger currency and app preferences are stored in private app storage on your device. The app uses them locally to calculate balances and display history, debts and upcoming expenses. No online account or bank connection is required. Balance Track does not send your ledger to a developer server and contains no advertising, analytics or automatic crash-reporting service.

Backups and exports

You choose when to save a full JSON backup or export transaction records as CSV through the system file picker. A full backup includes your ledger, currency and app preferences; CSV cannot restore the complete app. Files contain readable financial information and are not encrypted by the app. The destination may be another app or a cloud provider, whose terms and privacy practices apply. Your chosen backup folder, filename and access permission are kept on this device and are not included in ledger backups. Private ledger data and preferences are excluded from automatic cloud backup and Android device transfer.

Restore and local recovery

The app keeps a previous saved ledger snapshot and may keep older or damaged copies for recovery. A full backup can be restored during fresh setup or recovery from unreadable data. Restore replaces the active ledger rather than merging histories. Local recovery copies can be lost when app storage is removed. Save your own full backup outside the app before changing phones or uninstalling.

Optional device features

App lock uses your device's authentication system. Balance Track receives the authentication result, not your fingerprint, face data or device passcode. Hide balances masks the Home overview only; amounts remain visible in History, Debts and Accounts. These controls do not encrypt exported files. If you enable reminders, the app requests notification permission and schedules local notifications using the device time zone, without location permission. Notification text omits amounts, names, accounts and notes. Your operating system handles delivery and may delay reminders.

Retention and deletion

Deleting or replacing a record removes it from the active ledger, but previous records may remain in app-local recovery or legacy copies until those copies are replaced or cleared. Use Erase all financial data in Settings to clear the active ledger and app-local recovery and legacy copies. Uninstalling or clearing app storage removes app-local data according to your operating system. Backup and CSV files saved outside the app remain at their chosen destinations and must be deleted separately. The developer cannot remotely access, recover or erase the ledger on your device.

Support and privacy questions

If you email the support address below, SyntaxLab Studio and its email provider receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. The app does not send support messages or attach financial records automatically. Share only information needed for your request. Support emails and attachments are used to respond to your request and follow-up. We delete resolved requests and their attachments within 90 days, unless longer retention is required by law. You can request earlier deletion by emailing the same address. Deleting the app's financial data does not delete email correspondence.

Changes

This policy describes Balance Track version 1.0.0. We will update this policy and relevant disclosures if the app's data practices change.

A practical guide

How to delete your data

You can erase the financial records held by the app from your device.

  1. Open Settings in Balance Track.
  2. Under Reset, choose Erase all financial data. If app lock is enabled, authenticate with your device.
  3. Type ERASE in the confirmation field, then choose Erase data.

This clears the active ledger and app-local recovery and legacy copies. Saved backup and CSV files outside the app remain; delete those separately at their saved locations. Email correspondence must also be handled separately through the support address above.
